1st/2nd Grade Teacher for the 2025-26 School Year
Madrona School is seeking an experienced, trained Waldorf teacher to join our faculty for the 2025-26 school year. We are a faculty who are committed to maintaining a culture of respect, support, and collaboration with each other. Candidates must have the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and an enthusiasm for working openly and collaboratively. We have embraced the mixed-age model and find that we are able to bring our creativity and our understanding of each individual student to create beautiful, fulfilling lessons. We have learned to view our classes as healthy and thriving, despite the fact that they are small.
About
We are in our 25th year of providing Waldorf education to families of Bainbridge Island and Kitsap County. We offer preschool through 6th grade. Our school is located in the heart of downtown Bainbridge Island, in walking distance to public forests and beaches. We have a beautifully renovated outdoor space and prioritize opportunities to be outside and experience nature. Our early childhood programs are fully outdoors. Our grades program has a weekly field trip on Friday afternoons, finding opportunities to experience nature, engaging in art or challenging themselves physically
Essential Job Duties
Guided by the indications of Rudolf Steiner and the Waldorf curriculum, you will strive to meet each child at every step of development, embracing childhood and nurturing the child’s innate love of learning. You will enthusiastically work collaboratively with colleagues and the parent community to create an educational environment aligned with Waldorf pedagogy, our school mission and our program goals.
Requirements:
Certificate of Completion in Waldorf Teaching
Bachelor’s degree
Previous Waldorf class teaching experience

Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to professionalism.
Positive communication skills with parents.
An ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

Employment Details
Base salary is $48,000 plus increments, with a starting salary range from $48,000 to $69,000 depending on education and experience. Increments for experience and education are applied to the base salary. We provide health insurance, tuition remission, and ongoing opportunities for professional development.
